aboutus

DEEP North Canterbury began as The Worship Experiment—a monthly freestyle worship nights in Kaiapoi in 2015 with a heart to gather people together from across local church communities. A team from the Worship Experiment was involved in the second DEEP event in Christchurch and immediately recognised the shared vision. Following discussion with the team based in the city, it was agreed to start DEEP events in North Canterbury.

The first gathering was held in Rangiora in 2017 facilitated by a local team but with support from the Prayer Collective. The vision is to see a range of complementary DEEP events throughout the year that bring people together from across the Christchurch and North Canterbury region.

DEEP North Canterbury was birthed out of a heart to see the expansion of DEEP outside of Christchurch. It has the same DNA as DEEP Christchurch but is facilitated by a different team who seek to complement the city based events.

DEEP North Canterbury currently hosts

two expressions: DEEP Burns & United DEEP.

Summer 2017. DEEP North Canterbury was birthed out of a heart to see the expansion of DEEP outside of Christchurch. It has the same DNA as DEEP Christchurch but is facilitated by a different team who seek to complement the city based events. DEEP North Canterbury gathers worship teams from around the Kaiapoi, Rangiora and Oxford region.

DEEP North Canterbury gatherings are overnight events hosted by a local church. Worship teams represent different church communities and denominations so there is beautiful variety throughout the event. Prayer is also a key aspect of the time together with some dedicated times of prayer and an opportunity to minister to individuals. The primary aim is to create a space that has as much freedom as possible for people to express their worship and to seek God for breakthrough in our community. You are welcome at DEEP North Canterbury regardless of which church you attend, or whether you don’t call anywhere home.

We always start our events with a Māori welcome because we value the founding partnership of this wonderful land. Some people come to the mihi whakatau and stay right through to the poroporoaki the following day. Others come for a few hours, go home for some sleep and return the next morning. Feel free to participate in whatever way works for you.

Each DEEP is hosted at a different church and has different worship teams involved. This means that each event has its own feel but there is a consistent focus on collective prayer and worship.

We believe that the spiritual atmosphere changes when people come together to worship the Lord of all. Individuals find refreshment, healing, freedom and wholeness in an atmosphere of worship whilst at the same time we contend for spiritual breakthrough in our community. We look forward to you joining us in this kingdom work.
